To Our Customers and Partners:
In our 140-year history, we have experienced and survived everything thrown our way and we will emerge from this crisis as well. The Coronavirus’ (COVID-19) rapid and stealthy spread has led to dramatic responses and heroic actions. The depth and breadth of the impact of this insidious disease feels different from anything we have experienced in the past. We understand that you are all experiencing the uncertainty and disruption, coupled with the need to manage the health and safety of your personnel, investor confidence, logistics, supply chain, technology and many other aspects of your business. We want you to know that Starrett is committed to supporting you in this time of crisis, as you continue the critical task of delivering essential supplies to those in need.
Safety Initiatives:
The first order of business was the protection of our 1,600 global teammates. Our global management teams were given autonomy to institute and follow local safety protocols given the uncertainty of each situation, which could change hourly by country. Their prompt attention and proactive steps taken have helped mitigate risk and protect the health and safety of our valued employees, customers, distributors and communities.
- All non-essential travel (including sales personnel), meetings and events have been canceled.
- We are working remotely where possible and striving to support you virtually.
- In our facilities, we are restricting visitors, practicing social distancing, using enhanced sanitation protocols, daily temperature screening of employees and visitors, eliminating or limiting in-person meetings and encouraging the use of face coverings.
- All personnel who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone with symptoms are asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.
Business Continuity:
Globally, Starrett is deemed an “essential business,” as our measuring and saw products are critical to essential manufacturing and the supply chain, including the defense, aerospace, transportation, food supply and medical industries. The Company meets the criteria outlined in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (“CISA”) guidance, Department of Homeland Security as an “essential business.” As such, the Company has remained globally operational, with a few exceptions, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our supply chain has not been disrupted to any material extent and we remain well positioned to respond to your needs.
As we work together through this crisis, we will continue to monitor this fluid situation as it unfolds and communicate in a timely fashion if our status changes.
